If you live anywhere on the Northern half of the globe, you know that winter is on its way. Along with winter comes the holiday season. People of many different cultures and faiths find a reason to celebrate in the darkest parts of the year.
If you are looking for a way to incorporate your classroom 3D printer into your curriculum, this is one way to do it. Have your students design a holiday ornament that can be used during the upcoming season. Whether they hang on a Christmas tree, sit on a table or some other place in a house, holiday ornaments brighten up the winter season. We’d love to see what you can come up with.
But there’s more to it than that.
If you send us your designs, we’ll post all of them online so that you can download and print the designs made by students in other classrooms. Wouldn’t it be great to have a Christmas tree in your classroom decorated with ornaments that students in other places have designed?Wouldn’t it be great if students could take home an ornament that a student in another place had created?
If you are interested, I’ll work to put teachers in touch with others who teach students of a similar age. I’d love to see this be the start of a regular file exchange program where students in one classroom design files for students in other places.
You’ve got about a month. Get your students (or yourself, teachers can take part too!) designing. Send me your files and I’ll post them online. Let me know if you are interested in connecting with another teacher to trade 3D printed files and I’ll work to make that happen.
Questions? Files to share?
